Actor Eddie Garcia won the Best Actor trophy at the 55th Asia Pacific Film Festival 2012 for portraying the moody gay man Rene with a sickly dog named 'Bwakaw'.
Jun Lana's Bwakaw is indeed a crowd favorite for being humorous despite its poignant plot which involves a cancer-stricken dog and an old gay man who came out of the closet too late. And because of that and a whole lot more, this little film from the Philippines is making rounds and receiving applauds on film festivals abroad. In fact, it's quite of a contender in Oscar's best foreign film.
Congrats Manoy!
The veteran actor personally accepted
the award and received a standing ovation during the awards night held
on December 15 at the Venetian Resort Hotel in Macau, China.
