Box Office time! Middle earthlings called Hobbits are naturally small creatures but they manage to top on nearly every country's weekend box office. Here in the Philippines, the epic adventure spearheaded by Gandalf (Ian McKellen) and Bilbo Baggins (Martin Freeman) grossed a total of P55 million during its opening weekend.
The movie produced by New Line Cinema and Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer Pictures (MGM) was screened on more than 300 theaters including six IMAX. Shot in 3D and was released in HFR 3D on selected theaters the movie received lukewarm reviews from critics while most of the general audience says its a wonderful Christmas treat.
The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey stars MArtin Freeman, Richard Armitage, Ian McKellen, Cate Blanchett, Ian Holm, Christopher Lee, Hugo Weaving, Elijah Wood, and the franchise's icon Andy Serkis as Gollum.
