Evil Dead Rated R-18 Premieres Without Cuts Exclusively at Ayala Cinemas

I'm sure all horror fans in the Philippines are excited to watch the remake of Evil Dead. And most horror fans doesn't like it when their horror movie gets cut for violence or nudity. That's why Ayala Cinemas is coming to the rescue and is set to release the R-18 version and without cuts of this bloody horror film.

PRESS RELEASE - Billed as “The Most Terrifying Film You Will Ever Experience,” Columbia Pictures' horror thriller “Evil Dead” will hold special sneak previews on Monday and Tuesday, April 22 & 23, exclusively at Ayala Malls Cinemas (ahead of its May 8 regular opening).

Moviegoers can catch the sneaks at Glorietta 4, Greenbelt 3, Trinoma, Alabang Town Center, Market! Market!, Ayala Center Cebu, Marquee (Central Luzon), Abreeza (Davao), Harbor Point (Subic) and Centrio (Cagayan de Oro).

Rated R-18 Without Cuts by the MTRCB, “Evil Dead” is a bone-chilling film that combines all the raw excitement and gleeful gore of the acclaimed, 1981 original with a series of shocking new twists.

In the film, Mia (Jane Levy), a young woman whose life has been marred by loss and addiction, asks her brother David (Shiloh Fernandez), his girlfriend Natalie (Elizabeth Blackmore) and their childhood friends Olivia (Jessica Lucas) and Eric (Lou Taylor Pucci) to join her at the family’s rustic cabin to help her overcome her demons. Once there, she ceremoniously destroys the last of her stash and swears off drugs for good in front of her friends.

Inside, they are shocked to discover that the abandoned cabin has been broken into. The cellar has been transformed into a grotesque altar surrounded by dozens of mummified animals. Eric becomes fascinated with an ancient book he discovers there. In thrall to its mysterious contents, he reads aloud from it, never suspecting the terrifying consequences he is about to unleash.

As Mia’s withdrawals worsen, she begins to unravel and attempts to flee, but is turned back by a frightening vision. At the cabin, her behavior becomes so violent that her friends are forced to restrain her. Trapped by a dangerous storm raging outside, they begin to turn on each other one by one. As the brutality of their attacks increases, David is faced with an unimaginable choice.

Robert Pattinson deglamorize in 'The Rover'

 

Twilight actor Robert Pattinson has been deglamorized in the upcoming film Rover. He's a dirty gang member who's been left behind after their gang's most recent escape stealing the last possession of Erik (Guy Pearce), a car. This upcoming crime drama is directed by David Michod based on a script co-written by Joel Edgerton. The movie is also starring Scoot McNairy, Anthony Hayes, Gillian Jones and Susan Prior. No official release date has been announced for The Rover movie.

HBO Beyonce Documentary Soared at 1.8-Million viewers

HBO's latest documentary Beyonce's Life is But A Dream has pulled 1.8-Million viewers and becoming the cable network's most-watched docu in nearly 10 years. This is next to When the Levees Broke: A Requiem in Four Acts which is about the devastation done by Hurricane Katrina that earned 1.7-Million viewers in 2006.

“I always battle with how much do I reveal about myself. How do I stay current? How do I stay soulful? I felt like I had been so commercially successful, it wasn’t enough. It’s something really stressful about having to keep up with that,” says Bey in the trailer.

The documentary is said to touch her singing career, growing-up, being an independent woman, her husband Jay-Z, miscarriage and a tutorial on how to video blog using a Macbook Pro. Seriously? While I have yet to see the documentary myself and I'm sure it's going to be good watch given we don't always get to know a music icon every day.

Life Is But a Dream is directed by Beyonce herself, and it premiered on HBO last Saturday, February 16 at 9/8c. I can't wait to watch the replay of Bey's Life is But A Dream soon.

And Bad Techer as you know it is a comedy that revolves around a promiscious and foul-mouthed teacher. Hilary Winston (Community) has been tapped to pen the script together with Bad Teacher screenwriters Lee Eisenberg and Gene Stipnitsky.

Vin Diesel is Coming to the Philippines

Hollywood action star Vin Diesel announced over Facebook that he will be visiting the country soon. According to him, the visit is part of the promotional tour of his upcoming film "The Fast And The Furious". With him coming over to the country, Andrea del Rosario's name might just cross your mind although, like you, I don't know what to expect either.

But then actor, known for his Fast and Furious films, Babylon A.D., Pitch Black, The Chronicles of Riddick and of course, Saving Private Ryan is coming to the Philippines to add the sixth installment of the Fast and Furious franchise to our memory.

Steve Martin Becomes Dad At Last!

Actor Steve Martin known for his films The Pink Panther and Cheaper by the Dozen revealed that he's a first-time dad at the age of 67 and that, of course his wife Anne Stringfield gave birth last December at the age of 41. And for months now, they've been keeping the good news to themselves. But we understand right? This is the first time that he's going to be a Dad or that the couple will be parents. And after 3 years of conceiving or trying to, here it is!

Steve Martin is a dad at last! Well, Steve Martin is known to be very private in fact New York Post's Page Six was the first to break the story where it says "Apparently the couple have been trying to conceive for quite some time. They've had a baby and how they've kept it secret, nobody knows," a source told Page Six this week.

That's just great news! But you know what's so great about writing this news? It turns the world upside down in a way that most pregnancy or conceiving news are centered to women. I'm happy for Steve Martin!

The movie is written and directed by Jeff Nicholas.

Robert Pattinson Shaves His Head Again?

This photo of Rob was taken during the red carpet of his film Bel Ami. So this news about Rob Pattinson shaving his head isn't really another big scoop but then with him and Kristen breaking up, shaving his head off might probably mean another thing. Probably, shaving one's head is like forgetting the curly, thick, gorgeous hair that Bella used to rub! Rob!

Much has been said about how awfully gorgeous Robert Pattinson is at Twilight! But people will start to talk about him more now that he seems to have moved on after shaving his head and looking more human for the movie The Rover.

I don't know if this is an internationally acclaimed move but depressed, heartbroken girls mostly have their hair cut after a break-up! Fortunately, Robert Pattinson has Guy Pearce to back him up for shaving his hair  off and it's for their upcoming futuristic thriller about a gang member who gets left behind after a job goes awry.

From the looks of it, Pattinson is not only moving on from the defunct, box office successful yet critically bashed Twilight Saga but also from the cheating scandal he's gotten into after his Twilight co-star and ex-girlfriend Kristen Stewart was caught kissing Snow White and the Huntsman director Rupert Sanders.

There are rumors though that he's trying to win Kristen back.

Tom Hardy Stars in Thriller Locke

After playing Bane in Nolan's The Dark Knight Rises, actor Tom Hardy  is currently working on three movie projects namely Child 44, Everest and Animal Rescue while his next film Mad Max: Fury Road set to 2014 is now in post-production. But while all these upcoming films continue to progress, Tom Hardy has inked a deal of starring in a time-race thriller called Locke.

Here's the synopsis for Locke from the Hollywood Reporter:

Locke tells the story of one man's life unraveling in a tension-fuelled, 90-minute race against time (Knight will shoot in real time over 90 minutes). Ivan Locke has the perfect family, his dream job, and tomorrow should be the crowning moment of his career. But one phone call will force him to make a decision that will put it all on the line.

Locke is directed by Steven Knight who is yet to prove his talent in direction in the Jason Stathan action thriller Hummingbird.

5 Actresses Auditions for Endless Love Remake!

Hollywood is definitely not tired of making remakes and in today's movie news we have five young actresses vying for Brooke Shields' role in the 1981 romance film Endless Love. THR dropped the names of Sarah Bolger, Olivia Cooke, Sophie Lowe, Lilly Collins and Gabriella Wilde who are all going to Hollywood to meet the director, Shana Feste (Country Strong), of the upcoming romance flick.

In case you're not familiar with this film. Here's the plot of Endless Love!

Two young kids fall in love with each other. But the passion is too consuming for the parents of Jade. The parents try to stop them from seeing each other. But when this doesn't work David burns down the house and is sent away. This doesn't stop him from seeing her. When he gets out he goes to look for her. But in the end the passion for his first love is too strong and she has to leave or this love will kill both of them.

Among the actresses I'm only familiar with Sarah Bolger ( The Spiderwick Chronicles ) since I'm a fan of her current project the ABC's hit fantasy series Once Upon A Time where she plays Princess Aurora. :-)

Justin Timberlake's '20/20' Album Cover and Tracklist Revealed!

Ever since Justin Timberlake graced the big screen. He has done numerous movie projects. While currently working on more movies it's good to know that he has not forgotten his roots. Returning to the music scene is Justin Timberlake in his new album 20/20 which contains ten tracks.

Called 'The 20/20 Experience', Justin Timberlake's track list includes: Pusher Love Girl, Suit and Tie, Don't Hold The Wall, Strawberry Bubblegum, Tunnel Vision, Spaceship Coupe, That Girl, Let The Groove Get In, Mirrors and Blue Ocean Floor.

The Album cover however leaves us clueless on what JT is trying to tell us. Yes! We are certain he's referring to the 20/20 vision but what does sight have to do with songs?  What does he wants us to see? Or is he simply imposing that he's a singer in tuxedo who's also doing movies and wanted to say 'See?'.

With Sony getting aggresive into making Amazing Spider-Man 2 to become the next Avenger-style film. We hear of hints that will make everyone so excited about the sequel of this rebooted material! So far, we have Dane DeHaan as Harry Osborn and Shailene Woodley as Mary Jane. There's also Electro which is going to be played by Jamie Foxx and Paul Giamatti as The Rhino. But with Director Marc Webb hinting stuff over his twitter account geeks are starting a geek hysteria about Venom being on the sequel in the presence of Harry Osborn!

The Hobbit Grosses P55-M in Philippines Weekend Box Office

Box Office time! Middle earthlings called Hobbits are naturally small creatures but they manage to top on nearly every country's weekend box office. Here in the Philippines, the epic adventure spearheaded by Gandalf (Ian McKellen) and Bilbo Baggins (Martin Freeman) grossed a total of P55 million during its opening weekend.

The movie produced by New Line Cinema and Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer Pictures (MGM) was screened on more than 300 theaters including six IMAX.  Shot in 3D and was released in HFR 3D on selected theaters the movie received lukewarm reviews from critics while most of the general audience says its a wonderful Christmas treat.

The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey stars MArtin Freeman, Richard Armitage, Ian McKellen, Cate Blanchett, Ian Holm, Christopher Lee, Hugo Weaving, Elijah Wood, and the franchise's icon Andy Serkis as Gollum.

"I’m ready; I think she’s ready.[...]The first number that pops into my head is three.' But I just want one to be healthy and then we’ll see where we go after that.[...]It’s really easy for us guys to say, "I want like 15 kids." Jenna will be like, "Well you better get another wife!"

The Road to Hollywood

In 2 weeks time, GMA Films' The Road is going to be released in Hollywood. The Red Carpet Premiere of The Road will take place at Arclight Hollywood sa 6360 Sunset Boulevard in Hollywood, California. The Road's Internationally acclaimed director Yam Laranas has already left to prepare for the said event.

The film will be distributed by Freestyle Releasing in the US and Canada. And they're eyeing at least 50 commercial moviehouses for “The Road,” beginning May 11, 2011. In an interview Laranas said that. . .

“The film will be shown at the AMC chain, Loews, Regal, Landmark [...]These are mainstream cinemas. If we do well, the number can go up to 100 screens.”

For those who hasn't watched the movie, here's the synopsis of the movie.

The Road is about a 12 year-old cold case which is reopened when three teenagers went missing in an abandoned road. In the course of the investigation, deeper and gruesome stories of abduction and murders are discovered. After more than two decades, the secrets and mysteries of the road are finally revealed and the spirit lingering the dark and desolate pathway is out to make sure nobody leaves alive.

The movie stars Rhian Ramos, Carmina Villarroel, Marvin Agustin, TJ Trinidad, tween stars Alden Richards, Barbie Forteza, Louise delos Reyes, Derrick Monasterio, Lexi Fernandez, Ynna Asistio and Renz Valerio. Also starring in the film are John Regala, Lloyd Samartino, Gerald Madrid, Allan Paule and Ms Jacklyn Jose.
