‘It Takes a Man and a Woman’ Box Office Update!

I'm 100% sure you wanted to keep track of It Takes A Man and A Woman's box office success despite the fact that you will never get any portion of that. I don't know what's wrong with you  - why don't you ask yourself? -but I won't judge instead I'll tolerate you via this box office update.

So earlier today, April 7, at ASAP 18, the box office gross of It Takes A Man and A Woman movie was reported to have reached the P200-million mark. And that means, it's halfway into becoming the highest grossing Filipino film of all time dethroning the MMFF 2012 entry Sisterakas, which was crappy by the way.

I've been reading reviews of It Takes A Man and A Woman and I think the movie garnered generally positive reviews as well. Some are just too elitist to even recommend it. Like you know, it's a pinoy movie! Jologs and all. That kind of notion, whatever!

But anyway, rejoice fantards and Star Cinema and Viva Films people who are altogether P200-million richer! I hope I'll get invited to your victory party. Hehe. Eww!

A Moment In Time Flops in Box Office, Expectations and Standard

Get real people who loves Star Cinema, Coco Martin and Julia Montes. It was never really about your fandom or whatever you call it. The problem is the movie and the thing is A Moment In Time flopped in both expectations and box office! If you recall most Star Cinema opening salvo rake hundred millions in the box office and double the ticket sales if it were a Valentines movie and A Moment In Time is both but it grossed only P63.43 million. Why?

Disappointed Coco is Disappointed.

The reason why is probably the CocoJul loveteam has lost their momentum caused by the gap of Walang Hanggan's finale and the release of their movie. Bad reviews of the "so-so" movie did not help as well. And that's exactly why Star Cinema is hell bent to promoting or rather milking the Kathniel love team for their first feature film 'Must Be Love'.

And then, after that, if Must Be Love flops! They still have the Laida Magtalas and John Lloyd Cruz movie end of this month. I know you'd argue P60-m is still a decent box office gross but get real people, with Star Cinema and some people out there who buzzes whenever the film outfit reaches a certain hundred million - this gross of A Moment In Time - even if it reaches P70-M or P80-M by its 4th week has already flopped based on the standard set by Star Cinema.

If only Star Cinema would let go of the formula. That's not gonna happen though. OTJ's case is rare though! That's where Star Cinema would redeem itself. Hahaha

'Safe Haven' Tops Box Office While Die Hard 5 and Beautiful Creatures Dies

Philippine Box Office offers nothing but the exact opposite of Hollywood Weekend Box Officer Report featuring two top contenders in the long President's Day weekend. If in our third world, Bruce Willis' fifth installment of action soared high in the box office, in first world America, Relativity Media's Safe Haven topped the charts because of romantic dates in the Month of Love.

 Safe Haven, the latest Nicholas Sparks film debuted at $8.9-Million while A Good Day to Die Hard dies about $0.6-Million at comparison with the former. And while these two aren't the only movies to be shown out there we'd speculate Beautiful Creatures to open with $15-Million. Safe Haven is starring Julianne Hough and Josh Duhamel about a young woman falling in love for a stranger.

A Good Day to Die hard is directed by John Moore and takes the action hero John McClane to Moscow to rescue his son (Jai Courtney). Beautiful Creatures is starring Alice Englert, whose special powers as Lena Duchannes have long kept her separated from others. Aside from these new films, Escape From the Planet Earth will hit theaters this Friday and going to steal some millions from the three aforementioned films.

Chinese Zodiac Tops Philippine Box Office

Star Cinema is hell bent on promoting Jackie Chan's last big action movie 'Chinese Zodiac' which is actually a sequel to his Armour God series.

 And from the looks of it it has paid off! In 5 days time Chinese Zodiac has garnered P39.89 million in the box office. It topped the local box office chart provided by 3rd party tabulator Box Office Mojo.

Also, the opening salvo of Filipino mainstream cinema produced by Regal Films and entitled Seduction which stars Richard Gutierrez, Sarah Labhati and Solenn Heussaff have grossed a disappointing P 3.6-M on its first week.

Seduction Flops at Box Office! Earns P3.67-Million in 5 Days

While Director Peque Gallaga's return in filmmaking became a big deal to cineastes, his comeback film Seduction wasn't received well by the people. The first 5-day gross of Seduction is reported to be a disappointing P3.67-Million. The figures isn't official but then, hearing of this such sad news, we can only think of 3 reasons why this film wouldn't work.

First, people are probably tired of other woman movies after last years' A Secret Affair and The Mistress and the other years' No Other Woman. Second, the material is just bad and lastly the issues that surrounds the lead stars of the movie Sarah Labhati and Richard Gutierrez.

Due to poor box office sales, Seduction was pulled back to some theaters in provinces already. A sad news to Philippine Cinema.

Sisterakas Grosses P95.7-M in 3 Days!

Sisterakas is indeed on top of the box office tally for the Metro Manila Film Festival 2012 with a whopping P95.7 million on its third day of screening. Sisterakas is about an unforgiving brother Totoy Bernice (Vice Ganda) who became the lord of the apparels industry and later on brought misery to his hardworking half-sister Detty (Ai ai delas Alas) while his archenemy Roselle plots an evil plan.

Sisterakas is actually quite of a game changer in this year's Metro Manila Film Festival. However, we could sense that this might become the start of another 'sister-ish' franchise from the director of critically bashed yet phenomenal box office hit Praybeyt Benjamin and the Tanging Ina franchise.

MMFF 2012 Box Office Results First Day!

 Only four entries have announced how much they grossed during the opening of the Metro Manila Film Festival. Star Cinema was first to claim and announce that they are leading in the box office race with Sisterakas, a comedy film starring Vice Ganda, Ai Ai delas Alas and Kris Aquino.

Second place goes to Si Agimat, Si Enteng Kabisote at Si Ako which was P10-million short compared to Sisterakas P40.7-Million box office gross. It is then followed by Ruel S. Bayani's One More Try at 3rd place with P13.6 Million in a story that features Angelica Panganiban and Angel Locsin. Lastly, Regal Films' Fourteenth Shake Rattle and Roll Film grossed P10.5-Million at the box office.

The Hobbit Grosses P55-M in Philippines Weekend Box Office

Box Office time! Middle earthlings called Hobbits are naturally small creatures but they manage to top on nearly every country's weekend box office. Here in the Philippines, the epic adventure spearheaded by Gandalf (Ian McKellen) and Bilbo Baggins (Martin Freeman) grossed a total of P55 million during its opening weekend.

The movie produced by New Line Cinema and Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer Pictures (MGM) was screened on more than 300 theaters including six IMAX.  Shot in 3D and was released in HFR 3D on selected theaters the movie received lukewarm reviews from critics while most of the general audience says its a wonderful Christmas treat.

The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey stars MArtin Freeman, Richard Armitage, Ian McKellen, Cate Blanchett, Ian Holm, Christopher Lee, Hugo Weaving, Elijah Wood, and the franchise's icon Andy Serkis as Gollum.
