‘It Takes a Man and a Woman’ Box Office Update!

I'm 100% sure you wanted to keep track of It Takes A Man and A Woman's box office success despite the fact that you will never get any portion of that. I don't know what's wrong with you  - why don't you ask yourself? -but I won't judge instead I'll tolerate you via this box office update.

So earlier today, April 7, at ASAP 18, the box office gross of It Takes A Man and A Woman movie was reported to have reached the P200-million mark. And that means, it's halfway into becoming the highest grossing Filipino film of all time dethroning the MMFF 2012 entry Sisterakas, which was crappy by the way.

I've been reading reviews of It Takes A Man and A Woman and I think the movie garnered generally positive reviews as well. Some are just too elitist to even recommend it. Like you know, it's a pinoy movie! Jologs and all. That kind of notion, whatever!

But anyway, rejoice fantards and Star Cinema and Viva Films people who are altogether P200-million richer! I hope I'll get invited to your victory party. Hehe. Eww!

It Takes A Man and A Woman is Graded A by the Cinema Evaluation Board

There is no stopping It Takes A Man and A Woman to compete for the highest grossing film of all time and the highest grossing opening for a Filipino movie, now that Cinema Evaluation Board has graded the 3rd Sarah Geronimo and John Lloyd Cruz movie an 'A'.

The grade by CEB, allows the producers a 100% amusement tax rebate for the movie. The hype and excitement for It Takes A Man and A Woman is evident on nearly every circles and online. And if it promises to be a worthwhile movie, this would give justice to the awful movie 'Sisterakas' which is the current holder of the titles 'Highest Grossing Filipino Movie of All Time'.

That is very much likely to happen considering, Sarah and John Lloyd have become box office royalties over the years. In fact, their characters Laida Magtalas and Miggy Montegero are considered the most loved fictional pinoy movie couple.

In the upcoming It Takes A Man and A Woman movie, we will be introduced to an updated versions of the characters we loved in the previous two movies of this romcom franchise. Laida will become better, bolder and fiercer and as the trailer goes the Miggy character seems to be more easy-going.

What were the trials that Laida and Miggy faced after their break-up? Is it really the end for their love story or will Laida and Miggy rediscover the magic of the 'very special love they once shared?

It Takes A Man and A Woman Movie

It took almost 4 years before It Takes A Man and A Woman movie has taken production. And finally the country's second well-loved couple, Laida Magtalas (Sarah Geronimo) and Miggy Montenegro (John Lloyd Cruz) will finally return on the big screen on March 30, 2013 via the new Star Cinema and Viva Films production. Second because I'm damn sure Popoy and Basha are still at number 1. :-)

Anyway, this threequel to the Sarah-John Lloyd franchise will start with the two splitting up after 4 years. Meanwhile, John Lloyd is back with his ex-girlfriend Belle (Isabelle Daza). What we need to find out in this movie is why they break up? Well, it seems that after the events of You Changed My Life, Sarah Geronimo decided to go to Canada after all. Meaning, they didn't get the happy ending they always wanted.

That makes the story more realistic, well at least for the third film because that 'supposedly' climatic ending of You Changed My Life was so contrived I puked. Having said that, I believe Star Cinema will have the John Lloyd and Sarah Geronimo love team puke lots of ticket sales in the box office to beat their record of P176-Million box office gross for A Very Special Love and P209 million for You Changed My Life.

Watch for the biggest love reunion to happen this 2013 as the couple that made everyone smile, laugh and fall in love reunites in "It Takes A Man And A Woman" to share to the whole nation everything that has happened to them in the past years.

29th PMPC Star Awards for Movies Winners List

Check out the list of the winners of the recently concluded 29th PMPC Star Awards for Movies. El Presidente and Alagwa emerged as the best picture winners on mainstream and indie divisions for Star Awards for Movies 2013.

El Presidente actor Jorge Estregan must be in a cloud nine after winning the movie actor of the year award considering he One More Try actor Dingdong Dantes got the Best actor award in last year's Metro Manila Film Festival. Angel Locsin, on the other hand, well deserves the best actress trophy.

The Fighting Chefs Movie

We want to say that Viva Films is really starting the year great by co-producing and distributing maindie productions such as Menor De Edad and the upcoming movie 'The Fighting Chefs' early this year. And while Menor De Edad may have not done very well on its box office performance, here they go again taking the risk for the upcoming comedy action film of Kusina Master, Chef Boy Logro and the action star and OMB chairman Ronnie Rickets entitled 'The Fighting Chefs'.

We don't have the plot for this film but we got our hands to the official trailer of the film which is either trying to parody action films or doing just bad. Watch it at own risk!

First Look: Tin Patrimonio as Gabriela Silang

PBB Unlimited alumnus Christine Patrimonio tries acting in a historical indie film 'Gabriela' which is expected to hit theaters next year. According to Pinoy Movie Blog, Tin Patrimonio will play the role of no other than the legendary female icon of Philippine revolution, Gabriela Silang. The film is penned by Frank Rivera and first time director Carlo Norman Maceda.

Here's the first look of Tin Patrimonio as Gabriela Silang.

For those who don't have any inkling to who Gabriela Silang is, then you're not a Filipino. But joking aside, she is the wife of the great Ilocana leader Diego Silang who led his husband's revolutionary troops until she was captured and executed. She is one of the few Philippine heroine.

Kudos to the filmmakers behind this project and good luck to Tin Patrimonio to this big step forward for her career.

Diego Silang, on the other hand, will be played by Carlo Aquino. The movie is also starring Ricky Davao, Bj Forbes, Jeffery Santos, Rob Sy, Mara Lopez, Iris Lapid, Justin Pinon, Chris Michilena, Bon Vivar, Rex Roco, and Johnron Tanada. Seduction Flops at Box Office! Earns P3.67-Million in 5 Days

While Director Peque Gallaga's return in filmmaking became a big deal to cineastes, his comeback film Seduction wasn't received well by the people. The first 5-day gross of Seduction is reported to be a disappointing P3.67-Million. The figures isn't official but then, hearing of this such sad news, we can only think of 3 reasons why this film wouldn't work.

First, people are probably tired of other woman movies after last years' A Secret Affair and The Mistress and the other years' No Other Woman. Second, the material is just bad and lastly the issues that surrounds the lead stars of the movie Sarah Labhati and Richard Gutierrez.

Due to poor box office sales, Seduction was pulled back to some theaters in provinces already. A sad news to Philippine Cinema.

Peque Gallaga's epic masterpiece has just been restore and digitally re-mastered in high definition by Abs-Cbn film restoration efforts in cooperation with Central Digital Lab and Star Cinema. Hats off to Abs-Cbn to this initiative and I hope together with the restorations of this classic films they're also bound to make future classics.

Coco Martin and Julia Montes Kissing Scene in A Moment In Time

While I'm a big fan of Walang Hanggang, I missed some episodes of which Daniel and Katarina may have kissed. But since Julia Montes is still a minor I'm moved to think no smooch happened on that series. But with A Moment In Time, they revealed that the two indeed kissed.

Coco Martin even teased in an interview with Pep.ph "Ewan ko kung nagustuhan niya rin.".

Well, Julia Montes is not getting any younger in fact the 17 years old actress will have her grand debut this year.

Coco Martin also shared some funny stuff during the shoot of his first ever on screen kiss with Julia.

“May kissing scene kasi kami.  Ang tendency, siyempre, si Lola, hindi pa siya sanay na nakikitang ganoon si Julia.  Siyempre, first time naman na ginawa ni Julia yung ganoong bagay.“Siyempre si Lola, tutok na tutok.“E, natatawa ako, si Direk [Manny Palo] at saka si Kuya Rondel [Lindayag], yung creative po namin, siko ng siko si Lola kasi siya ang natatakot para kay Julia.  E, ako naman, artista lang ako.  Kung ano ang sinabi ng director, yun lang po ang ginagawa ko.”

Richard Gutierrez Stars in My Lady Boss

Richard Gutierrez started the year with a dark and sexy drama together with his girlfriend Sarah Labhati and leading lady Solenn Heussaff in Peque Gallaga's Seduction. A month later, he's up again for another movie with Marian Rivera who he has worked with in the past Valentines offering of GMA and Regal Films. Directed by Jade Castro, Richard Gutierrez will experience the terror of a lady boss in My Lady Boss movie.

Gutierrez describes his second film light and refreshing. In My Lady Boss, Richard will play Zach. A rich handsome and overconfident guy who will seek work experience in Evelyn's company. As a “lady boss,” Evelyn is sketched as demanding, tough, blunt, and uptight. While the two characters’s personalities and egos will clash at the beginning of the story, Zach and Evelyn will eventually fall for each other.

”My Lady Boss” is a joint production of GMA Films and Regal Films and is directed by Jade Castro. It will hit nationwide theatres soon.
