Marian Rivera and Piolo Pascual Movie

If Marian Rivera and Piolo Pascual's team up as cameo yet lead roles in a film within the Vilma Santos Cinemalaya entry 'Ekstra' proves to be a box office hit, the lines will blur between tv networks and we might just see a Marian Rivera and Piolo Pascual movie in the works!

In the film directed by Jeffrey Jeturian, the movie Ekstra will feature Marian Rivera and Piolo Pascual as characters in a teleserye called Nauna Kang Naging Akin. While it's a satire to all teleserye, this narrative or subplot of Ekstra features nothing but humor and behind the scenes. One of the most awaited scene in the teleserye is the kissing scene of Marian and Piolo.

The movie Ekstra is backed by the producers of the Metro Manila Film Festival 2012 entry The Strangers and the makers of 'Here Comes The Bride'. This is a socio comedy however as the title character is the character portrayed by the one and only star for all seasons as a bit player. Joining the cast are Cherie Gil, Pilar Pilapil, Nico Antonio, Marx Topacio, Olive Isidro, Tom Rodriguez, Tart Carlos, Ronaline Enriquez and Roli Inocencio.

First Look: Tin Patrimonio as Gabriela Silang

PBB Unlimited alumnus Christine Patrimonio tries acting in a historical indie film 'Gabriela' which is expected to hit theaters next year. According to Pinoy Movie Blog, Tin Patrimonio will play the role of no other than the legendary female icon of Philippine revolution, Gabriela Silang. The film is penned by Frank Rivera and first time director Carlo Norman Maceda.

Here's the first look of Tin Patrimonio as Gabriela Silang.

For those who don't have any inkling to who Gabriela Silang is, then you're not a Filipino. But joking aside, she is the wife of the great Ilocana leader Diego Silang who led his husband's revolutionary troops until she was captured and executed. She is one of the few Philippine heroine.

Kudos to the filmmakers behind this project and good luck to Tin Patrimonio to this big step forward for her career.

Diego Silang, on the other hand, will be played by Carlo Aquino. The movie is also starring Ricky Davao, Bj Forbes, Jeffery Santos, Rob Sy, Mara Lopez, Iris Lapid, Justin Pinon, Chris Michilena, Bon Vivar, Rex Roco, and Johnron Tanada. With a special participation from Jim Paredes and Arthur Solinap.

Zanjoe Marudo to Do Indie Film in Korea!

Although I haven't seen his movies Kalayaan and One More Try, but based on reviews, actor Zanjoe Marudo is definitely going to reap some nods from acting award-giving bodies for his performances. Doing great and loving his craft, Zanjoe gets an offer to make a movie in Korea.

In a recent interview the actor said, “Parang ‘yong ginawa ko naman ‘yong Kalayaan para sa Cinemalaya, e. [...] Tapos nag-screening siya sa Korea.May direktor doon sa Korea, pinanood niya ‘yong Kalayaan then, hinanap niya si Direk Adolf (Alix). Gusto niya akong i-cast sa movie niya na ako ang bida sa isang indie film niya. Kasi nga ang character ay half-Filipino, half-Korean.”

And because of that Zanjoe said that in 2013 he will be focused on doing more indie films. And a year will not pass by without Zanjoe Marudo, making an independent film for a film festival.

Eddie Garcia Bags Best Actor Award at Asia Pacific Film Festival 2012

Actor Eddie Garcia won the Best Actor trophy at the 55th Asia Pacific Film Festival 2012 for portraying the moody gay man Rene with a sickly dog named 'Bwakaw'.

The veteran actor personally accepted the award and received a standing ovation during the awards night held on December 15 at the Venetian Resort Hotel in Macau, China.

 
Jun Lana's Bwakaw is indeed a crowd favorite for being humorous despite its poignant plot which involves a cancer-stricken dog and an old gay man who came out of the closet too late. And because of that and a whole lot more, this little film from the Philippines is making rounds and receiving applauds on film festivals abroad. In fact, it's quite of a contender in Oscar's best foreign film.
