Vhong Navarro is back in Da Possessed Movie!

0
STAR Cinema continues its grand 20th anniversary celebration as it opens the second quarter of 2014 with the most hilarious and most out-of-this-world comedy movie of the summer season as Vhong Navarro makes a grand comeback to the silver screen in Da Possessed. hong is undoubtedly one of the most accomplished and most talented comedians of his generation. His contribution in the field of comedy consists of an impressive body of work that consistently broke box-office records.

The Vhong Navarro Franchise includes three of the most unforgettable and most profitable comedy films Star Cinema has ever produced with Mr. Suave (2003), D’ Anothers (2005),and Agent X44 (2007) – all directed by Joyce Bernal – to name a few. This summer, after 7 lengthy years, the long wait is finally over as Vhong reunites with Bernal in Da Possessed. This highly anticipated reunion of Vhong’s and Bernal’s winning tandem will surely make millions of Filipinos roar in uncontrollable laughter once again with the fusion of

Vhong’s down-to-earth brand of comedy and Bernal’s outlandish storytelling techniques as the film’s main selling attractions. Written by Athena Aringo-Tengco, Ays De Guzman and Antoinette Jadaone, Da Possessed is a joint project of Star Cinema and Regal Films. The movie revolves around the peculiar story of simpleton Ramon who attempts to venture into landscape art. Ramon falls for his sexy boss but conflict begins when spirits from another world start to possess his body thus igniting a series of whacky and riotous events. Loved for the highly identifiable “zero to hero” characters that he has portrayed through the years,

Vhong has endeared himself to the entire nation as the Pinoy equivalent of “everyman” whom every Filipino can relate with. Vhong’s potent mass-appeal was further bolstered in 2009 when he joined ABS-CBN’s groundbreaking daily variety show It’s Showtime as one of its pioneering hosts. “It has always been my philosophy to always be happy and I want to spread all happiness that I can through my work not just as an actor but as a dancer and TV host as well,” says Vhong. “I am both overwhelmed and overjoyed with the solid support of ABS-CBN, Star Cinema, and my fans. We worked very hard to make sure that everyone would enjoy Da Possessed. We should all enjoy life together and we should all laugh together.”

Da Possessed also marks the very first film of sexy star Solenn Heussuaff under Star Cinema. “This is definitely a major milestone in my career,” says Solenn. “It’s such an honor to work with Vhong, Direk Joyce, and Star Cinema in this awesome project.” Also starring in Da Possessed is an assembly of the country’s finest comedians and character actors as led by John Sweet Lapus, Empoy, Smokey Manaloto, Beverly Salviejo, Lito Pimentel, Joy Viado, Matet De Leon, Aaliyah Belmoro, and Joey Marquez. Da Possessed will hit cinemas nationwide starting April 19.

It Takes A Man and A Woman Movie

0
It took almost 4 years before It Takes A Man and A Woman movie has taken production. And finally the country's second well-loved couple, Laida Magtalas (Sarah Geronimo) and Miggy Montenegro (John Lloyd Cruz) will finally return on the big screen on March 30, 2013 via the new Star Cinema and Viva Films production. Second because I'm damn sure Popoy and Basha are still at number 1. :-)

Anyway, this threequel to the Sarah-John Lloyd franchise will start with the two splitting up after 4 years. Meanwhile, John Lloyd is back with his ex-girlfriend Belle (Isabelle Daza). What we need to find out in this movie is why they break up? Well, it seems that after the events of You Changed My Life, Sarah Geronimo decided to go to Canada after all. Meaning, they didn't get the happy ending they always wanted.

That makes the story more realistic, well at least for the third film because that 'supposedly' climatic ending of You Changed My Life was so contrived I puked. Having said that, I believe Star Cinema will have the John Lloyd and Sarah Geronimo love team puke lots of ticket sales in the box office to beat their record of P176-Million box office gross for A Very Special Love and P209 million for You Changed My Life.
Watch for the biggest love reunion to happen this 2013 as the couple that made everyone smile, laugh and fall in love reunites in "It Takes A Man And A Woman" to share to the whole nation everything that has happened to them in the past years.

Produced by Star Cinema and Viva Films, "It Takes A Man And A Woman" is under the direction of box-office director Cathy Garcia-Molina.

Coco Martin and Julia Montes Kissing Scene in A Moment In Time

0
While I'm a big fan of Walang Hanggang, I missed some episodes of which Daniel and Katarina may have kissed. But since Julia Montes is still a minor I'm moved to think no smooch happened on that series. But with A Moment In Time, they revealed that the two indeed kissed.

Coco Martin even teased in an interview with Pep.ph "Ewan ko kung nagustuhan niya rin.".

Well, Julia Montes is not getting any younger in fact the 17 years old actress will have her grand debut this year.

Coco Martin also shared some funny stuff during the shoot of his first ever on screen kiss with Julia.

“May kissing scene kasi kami.

Chinese Zodiac Movie to Be Distributed by Star Cinema

0
One of the most highly anticipated asian movies next year is Jackie Chan's Chinese Zodiac movie which isn't even a Hollywood production but almost literally a Jackie Chan production because Chan, himself, written, directed and produced the film.

Synopsis: Globe-trotting soldier-of-fortune JC is hired by shady antiques dealers to track down six missing bronze animal-heads by any means necessary. The six bronzes originally formed part of a set of twelve, representing the animals of the Chinese Zodiac, forming part of a fountain in the old Summer Palace outside Beijing; they were looted and dispersed when Anglo-French armies sacked the Summer Palace in 1860. JC and his crack team of assistants first head to France, where two of the bronzes are believed to be held in a private collection. The operation to ‘liberate’ the bronzes from a heavily guarded Chateau brings JC into an uneasy alliance with Coco, a Chinese student in Paris, who is active in a global movement which campaigns for stolen cultural treasures to be returned to their homelands. Along the way, JC makes an enemy-for-life of Pierre, the chief of staff at the Chateau Marceau, and an unexpected friend of Katherine, a bankrupted aristocrat whose home contains another of the missing bronzes. The trail next leads JC and his team, now including Coco and Katherine, to a forgotten tropical island in the South Seas, where two missing animal heads are found in a beached wreck. A multi-national band of pirates moves to block the team’s getaway, but JC’s skill and resourcefulness wins the day. Back home, JC is stunned to learn that his employers already had the sixth missing bronze all along, and he sets out to teach them a lesson for tricking him. Meanwhile the protest movement has persuaded buyers to shun auctions of stolen national treasures, and the shady dealers are threatening to destroy the sixth bronze in public. Will JC’s conscience – and his sense of Chinese national pride – kick in to push him to save the last bronze from destruction?

Chinese Zodiac also stars Oliver Platt, Laura Weissbecker, and Korean heartthrob Kwon Sang-woo. This year Star Cinema distributed the Thai film 'ATM' as well as some local indie films like 'Biktima' and 'Bwakaw' and next year will be Chinese Zodiac.

Dingdong Dantes Feels Nostalgic About Second Star Cinema Movie

0
Award-winning actor and "One More Try" lead star Dingdong Dantes did not expect but was truly delighted when he received a second movie offer from Star Cinema, especially that it is another entry to the annual Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF).

"Fresh from 'Segunda Mano' sinabihan na agad ako na I'm gonna do another project with Star Cinema. Hindi ko naman ini-expect it's for MMFF again kaya parang nostalgic 'yung experience," narrated Dingdong. "

Star Cinema gave me a very good experience sa first project ko with them kaya nung nalaman ko na may isa pa, syempre natuwa ako and I was looking forward sa new memories na mabi-build ko doing 'One More Try' na true enough naman ay isa namang pelikulang talagang hinding-hindi ko malilimutan."

Under the direction of award-winning director Ruel S. Bayani, "One More Try" features a modern family drama about a mother's immeasurable love to her son who is dying. In the story, Dingdong will play the character of Edward, a dedicated husband to Jacq (Angelica Panganiban), whose courage and character will be tested when her old friend Grace (Angel Locsin) re-enters his life with their son who is desperately in need of his father's help.

According to Dingdong, aside from the unique beauty of the plot of "One More Try," he immediately accepted offer because of the top caliber actors who are part of it, including former Kapuso star Angel.

"First time ko nakasama si Angel. Kasi kahit na noong nasa GMA pa siya, hindi kami nagkaron ng pagkakataon na magkatrabaho. And although si Angelica nakasama ko na sa 'Segunda Mano' at si Zanjoe (Marudo) sa 'Kimmy Dora,' first time namin magsama-samang apat sa iisang pelikula," said Dingdong who revealed that he learned so much while doing the film.

"Everyday I learn so many things from different people--kung papano sila sa set, kung gaano ka sila kaprofessional towards their work, how much they love their work, and how to make an awesome product while you’re having fun."

Dingdong is also proud of the extraordinary and courageous plot of "One More Try." He said, "Kung gaano siya kabilis mag-evolve as a story, ganoon din siguro kabilis ang magiging impact niya sa audience. Dahil sa pagkakaron ng isang bata eventually it turned out to be more of a family drama film than an adult type of movie na alam naman natin na karamihan nang pinalabas this year ay may ganoong tema."

"Natutunan ko na minsan kasi may mga choices ka na gagawin na maaaring hindi tama sa nakararami pero para sa 'yo morally and spiritually ay para sa ikabubuti ng taong mahal mo," said the actor. "In the film, they will realize na beyond the conflicts of relationships, ultimately ay uuwi ka pa rin sa family mo which is perfect para sa isang film festival dahil panahon ang Pasko kung kelan nagsasama-sama ang mga pamilya."

Aside from the first team-up of Angel, Angelica, Zanjoe and Dingdong, also featured in “One More Try” are Carmina Villaroel, Agot Isidro, Edward Mendez, and Ms. Gina Pareño.

Experience love that makes you do the impossible and accept the unacceptable, don't miss "One More Try," which will be shown on cinemas nationwide starting December 25.

0
Speculations are still on to celebrities being eyed to don the highly coveted Darna costume but among them, Cristine Reyes, expressed her interest during an interview. The 23 years old actress said

"Well kung ako nga ang susunod ay pagtatrabahuan ko 'yan ng maayos,". She stressed out though that as of now she received no offer to play the popular Filipino Superhero character. "Haka-haka lang din po," she said.

A Tv Adaptation, where Angel Locsin said she's ready to take the role if given the chance and a movie adaptation of which Darna role is up for grabs. With Darna projects commencing next year, hopefully, two different actress will get to play Darna.

It would be awesome if they could link the two Darna projects though!

Angel Locsin, Dingdong Dantes and Angelica Panganiban Movie in the Works!

0
It looks like Star Cinema is planning to make yet another Box Office movie by billing Angel Locsin and Angelica Panganiban in a project with the Kapuso actor, Dingdong Dantes as the leading man. And the film is said to be entitled or "In Love We Trust".

While it hasn't been officially announced, and as of now this movie project is still a rumor, we might just ready ourselves for another quality romance film from Star Cinema. With two Angels and a doorbell-sounding actor, who knows? This might just become another high grossing movie in the Philippines. :D

Its target playdate is November 14, 2012!
